They seem to choose this journey because of the convenience of a ‘front door’ bus stop and the local experience it offers whilst mingling with locals en route rather than for not having any another way into Corfu Town.
This particular K.T.E.L regional green bus route runs Kerkyra – Moraitika – Messonghi – Kavos and back again 7 days a week.
This coming weekend, however, on the 29th and 30th of August the Moraitika bus route is due to run an historic journey.
A fresh and exciting initiative has been organised by Greek author Kostas Koulouris and K.T.E.L. the regional bus service of Corfu.
In conjunction with the Greek Federation of Classical Vehicles an original 1962 bus will run the route between Corfu Town and Lefkimmi passing through Benitses and Moraitika.
Actors dressed in costume will give life to songs and sketches from movies in the 60’s with luggage, baggage and the like all true to a time long gone by.
The bus which comes especially from Athens for this event will take a longer stop once arrived in Lefkimmi for further re-enactments belonging to a time when the poor man in 1960’s Greece still dared to dream.
All related events are free for the public.
