Most of our guests know her simply as ‘Maria’.
What you probably didn’t know about her, is that her full name is Maria Emvraizoglou and she started working at Delfinia Hotels in 1988.
She was born in Germany and grew up there speaking both Greek and German. Her family returned to Corfu when she was 16 years old.
Maria longed to be an airhostess, to travel and to meet the world at large.
Having studied at the Corfu School of Tourism she joined Delfinia Hotels when she was just 23 years old.
Bright and eager to learn, Maria has been one of our lead receptionists for 29 years.
When asked why she has worked at Delfinia Hotels for so long, her reply comes easily:
“This is my home. I grew up here, in this beautiful environment, with these people. It is like a world onto its own.”
Maria admits that she never thought about leaving. She loves her job because it is interesting, fast and versatile. She gets to meet and greet everyone and ensures that we all leave with the best of impressions.
“In my opinion, every year the hotel gets better and better” she says. “The owners are always on site and they are dedicated to improving and taking care of Delfinia Hotels”.
“There’s love in what we do!” she continues.
Maria and her colleagues are at the heart of Delfinia Hotels. The reception never sleeps and the work never finishes.
She explains how in her team they all work for each other. They ensure that each shift has as little work load as possible and no one leaves without getting the job done.
This dedicated work ethic is what makes any business thrive.
She is one of the reasons we are celebrating 50 years at Delfinia Hotels in 2017.
Thank you Maria!
